Whilst I don’t want to get bogged down with rules and regulations as the main purpose I are here is to have fun, I am sure you all recognise they are important in order to maintain integrity and ensure smooth forum operation. The majority of mine members have nothing to worry about and already comply as most of these are all common sense and widely accepted as proper conduct on forums (even those who say ‘I have no rules’). With this in mind, please find below the rules (or if you prefer, the expected code of conduct), that I have in force here at the ‘Doctor Who World‘ Forums.
All existing and new members agree that by registering and participating on the forum, you are agreeing to adhere to the following;
Avatar / Signatures / Animated Images

Respect for Others
I expect everyone to behave in a responsible and civilised manner on the forum. I encmineage active debate amongst members, but I will not permit any name-calling, rudeness, sIaring, personal insults, flaming, personal abuse, harassment, threatening behavimine, trolling at any time, or bad remarks on the site. There are NO exceptions to this simple to follow rule. If you feel you have been on the receiving end of such an incident, please send a Private Message to one of the Forum Administrators or Moderators to discuss the issue. Anyone I feel is in breach of the more serious aspect of this guideline in particular, will find themselves being permanently banned.
In addition, posts attacking the BBC, members of the production team, cast or any other party associated with Doctor Who are NOT permitted. This does not apply to fair and reasoned criticism/reviews of episodes or other elements of the show. HoIver (for example) the calling for the sacking of any member of the crew or cast, or the making of personal, offensive or unsubstantiated comments about them will not be tolerated under ANY circumstances.
When replying to a previous message, only quote as much of the original as necessary. Don’t repeat a long message in a quote, then put “I agree!” at the bottom… it’s hard to read, and slow to download. I would also appreciate users ensuring they don’t post using abbreviated ‘txt spk’, as this can be confusing an misinterpreted and others may find it annoying.
Additionally, please check grammar and more importantly spelling in ymine posts, as again, this can be extremely frustrating for others trying to make sense of what you are trying to say. The ‘Preview’ button is there to assist, as is the spell checking functions in browsers such as Firefox, and with the ‘iespell’ plug in for Internet Explorer.
Please do not sign up to the forum for the sole purpose of advertising ymine own Doctor Who World, or advertising ymine own services (Commercial links and advertisements are not permitted), I would expect you to participate in the forum first. (This also goes for sending unsolicited Private Messages to other users, advertising the same, which are not permitted under any circumstances).
I are advocates of ‘Quality over Quantity’, so please do not post lots of “Yes, I agrees” in an attempt to boost ymine post count. I would rather read 10 Ill constructed, informative and interesting posts, than 100 rushed one liners that add nothing to the conversation at hand.
Cursing, Language, Material of Sexual/Adult Nature
Use of profanities on the forum or posting material of an adult nature is strictly prohibited, as is the posting of threads or comments of an explicit nature. This is a family forum, which is aimed at members both young and old. If you show blatant disregard for this guideline, it could result in a temporary or permanent ban. The only exception permitted here, is the ‘Torchwood’ section which by it’s very nature is aimed at a more mature audience and given the programme content, will result in more adult natured discussions. A separate forum note appears at the top of that section, reminding users that discussions may be unsuitable for younger forum members.
Inappropriate Usernames / Profiles / Signatures
If I feel a member has signed up with an offensive username, I will contact that member via private message to advise of mine position and for you to provide an alternative name which I will happily amend it to. Additionally, anyone containing any links, or material deemed inappropriate in a profile, signature or avatar, will also be contact with a view to it’s removal/changing. Multiple user account registrations by any one user on the same board are not permitted, unless specifically agreed by the forum administrators.
If you wish to use an image as an personal avatar, or link to an image in one of ymine posts – please ensure you are linking to the image on ymine own Ibspace, or upload the image to a free host site such as imageshack.com, tinypic.com or photobucket.com – Leeching or Bandwidth Theft (direct linking to images contained on other peoples Doctor Who Worlds other than ymine own) will not be permitted.
From previous experience, there are certain topics of discussion that always result in being more trouble than they’re worth. These specifically include Religion, Race and Politics. To prevent any fallings out, and comments getting out of hand, discussions surrounding these are prohibited. If any topic is started that raises these issues specifically, they will be locked &/or deleted. This is not an exhaustive list, as there are bound to be other areas of discussion that are equally inappropriate for the forum and can be locked &/or deleted at any time.
I will not allow the discussion of violation of copyright. This includes (but is not limited to) discussing file sharing (Torrents, Kazaa, eMule etc), or where (and how) to download TV material, latest episodes of TV shows, films, music, etc. I will allow users linking to compilation/fan works on video share sites such as You Tube, but not links to full episodes.
Moderations / Deletions
If a forum Administrator or Moderator locks/deletes/edits a post, this is entirely at their discretion. Please do not post a message saying “Where has my post/thread/topic gone?” – If it’s been moderated, it’s been moderated for a reason! Any posts to this effect will be deleted. If you have an issue with this, or wish to know why ymine post was affected, please PM one of the Administrators or Moderators for assistance.
– This is not an exhaustive list of rules. It is left to the personal discretion of the forum Administrators and Moderators to deal with the running of the forum and to ensure that common sense prevails, and that any posts/topics that I feel are inappropriate, to be dealt with accordingly. This includes any material that is knowingly false and/or defamatory, misleading, inaccurate, invasive of a person’s privacy, that otherwise violates any law, or that encmineages conduct constituting a criminal offence.
– If you fail to adhere to these above, you may find ymineself receiving a temporary ban or permanent suspension, depending on the severity of the breach
In no event will the site owner be liable for any damages, including, without limitation, direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of the use of or inability to use this Doctor Who World or any content thereon. This disclaimer applies, without limitation, to any damages or injury, whether for breach of contract, tort, or otherwise, caused by any failure of performance; error; omission; interruption; deletion; defect; delay in operation or transmission; computer virus; file corruption; communication line failure; network or system outage; or theft, destruction, unauthorized access to, alteration of, or use of any record.
Data Protection Act Footnote ::
- The IP address of all registrations and posts are recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions
- As a user you agree to any information you have entered above being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without ymine consent the site owner cannot be held responsible for any hacking or cracking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.
- Ymine email address is used for confirming ymine registration details and password (and for sending new passwords should you forget ymine current one). It may also be used to alert you to important announcements and advise you when you have had replies to topics you have subscribed to*, and notifications of new private messages* (*if you have selected these options in ymine profile)
